The leave-crunching, pumpkin-picking, apple-eating season is upon us and what better way to celebrate than with a cozy fall cocktail?
First up: the Pumpkin Old Fashioned. This seasonal take on the classic cocktail adds sweet pumpkin and the great Canadian ingredient: maple syrup.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
1 ½ tablespoons pumpkin puree
1 ½ oz. bourbon (I used Woodford Reserve, $24.95 for 375 mL at the LCBO)
½ oz. maple syrup
½ oz. Grand Marnier
Orange peel twist, for garnish
HOW TO DO IT
Combine pumpkin puree, bourbon, syrup, Grand Marnier and bitters in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake well and strain into a glass with a single ice cube.
Garnish with orange twist.
